Summer: Celebrating their 140th year the Belfast and Moosehad Lake Railroad is located in the heart of Waldo County. The railroad is one of the oldest continuously operating of it’s kind and hopping on board in Belfast is worth the trip. The train offers riders a unique perspective of history while making it’s way to the Unity, Maine station. The train excursions are narrated while the train crosses two train trestles, runs along the shores of Lake Winnecook and through the countryside, marshlands, fields and streams. There is a dining car so riders can grab a bite to eat and a musuem for you to view old artifacts and photos of days gone by. But mostly, it is just fun and enjoy the views as to chug along the countryside on board an authentic steam locomotive. The kids will love the trip so bring the whole family for an afternoon of fun.
