Summer, Fall & Spring: With the warm months here for us to enjoy nothing can be more fun than cruising on a bike. Riding a bike is a great way to discover new sites and save on gas. Why not rent a bike and discover all there is to be seen in Portland. Cycle Mania is a great place to rent a bike for the day or hour and is located close to the Old Port so you can literally start your trip in one of the best parts of Portland. You could take a historic site seeing trip on your bike visiting Longfellow’s House, the First Parish Church and Monument Square. While you are in Monument Square be sure to stop in and grab a great cup of coffee at Zarrah’s and enjoy the outside seating. On Wednesdays Monument Square turns into a farmers market and is filled with the most beautiful flowers and fresh vegetables you can find anywhere. Hop back on your bike and head toward the Eastern Prom. Half way up Munjoy Hill you will reach the Portland Observatory, take a few moments to climb to the top and enjoy the sweeping views of Portland Harbor. Get back on your bike and head up to the top of the Eastern Prom where you will be greeted with a fabulous view and historical sites like Fort Gorges. After exploring the Eastern side of Portland, if you are really feeling adventurous, you could peddle your way across the Million Dollar Bridge and down Route 77 into Cape Elizabeth where you could spend some time enjoying the sites at Fort Williams State Park and the well known and loved, Portland Head Light. This is the perfect spot to enjoy some lunch and just rest listening to the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks. Whatever route you choose you will love the feeling of the wind on your face and the freedom to go where you want on a bike.
