Summer: In June when the lupine is in bloom there is no better place to be than the coast of Maine, especially during the annual Lupine Festival held on Deer Isle. This annual event in June features a variety of fun activities to check out while enjoying the colorful peak of the lupine bloom that paints the island. There are art and sculpture shows, boat rides, childrens activities, musical performances, movies, garden tours, a quilt show, and even a rummage sale. Located in beautiful Penobscot Bay the Deer Isle itself is utterly breathtaking, and even more pronounced with the purple/blue blossoms dotting the rugged coast and quiet bays. The nearby island gem of Stonington with its smooth grante formations is worth a side trip and is well known for its killer Lobster. This bloom doesn’t last long, so enjoy it while you can.
